About Dr Raj Kanna Dr Raj Kanna, with +17 years of experience as an Orthopedic & Joint Replacement Surgeon, has +1,000 arthroscopy and as many knee replacement surgeries using computer-assisted techniques to his credit. Dr. Kanna is a professional member of the, Indian Medical Association, Tamil Nadu Orthopaedic Association, Indian Orthopaedic Association and the Indian Society of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has a few ‘firsts’ to his credit and those are, first in South India to perform computer-assisted revision knee replacement surgery, rotating platform (high flexion) knee replacement surgery, knee replacement with gap balancing technique and first to write a comprehensive review paper on partial knee replacement surgery. Dr. Kanna completed his MBBS from Madurai Medical College in 2000 and MS Kasturba Medical College in 2005. He has a DNB qualification too. He then did a Fellowship in Joint Replacement and another at Southampton in UK. Dr. Kanna is an expert at performing total hip replacement, knee osteotomy, minimally invasive knee replacement surgery, key hole surgery, disc surgery, bunion surgery and bone grafts. He treats knee pain, fractures, arthritis, back and lower back pain, joint dislocation and hip/knee/ankle injuries. He has authored and published around 12 scientific articles for reputed orthopedic journals including the Journal of Arthroplasty. Dr. Kanna is the first to write a comprehensive review on Partial Knee Replacement that was published in Octa Orthopaedica Belgica. He has co-authored a chapter titled “Unicompartmental Knee Arthroplasty” for the 2nd edition of the book titled “Textbook of Orthopaedics and Trauma” published by the Indian Orthopaedic Association.
