About Dr. Benedict Peng Chan Wearn Dr. Benedict Peng Chan Wearn is a well-known Orthopedic Surgeon at Island Orthopedics Clinic at Mount Alvernia Hospital, Singapore. He has more than 25 years of experience and holds expertise in Motion preservation surgery including dynamic stabilization and dynamic fusion technologies, artificial disc replacement and spinal deformity correction, and Spine treatments, including degenerative diseases, deformity, trauma, tumors, and infections. His main interest lies in performing Minimally invasive spine surgery and procedures such as Microdiscectomy and percutaneous discectomy for slipped disc, Vertebroplasty/ kyphoplasty for spinal fractures, Spinal injections to relieve neck and back pain, Interspinous device stabilization for spinal stenosis. After getting graduated with Honours from the University of Leeds, the UK in 1996, he completed his Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery (Singapore) and FRCS(Edinburgh) in Orthopaedics followed by a fellowship in Spine Surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City, USA. He has been invited as a speaker at regional and international conferences on surgical techniques in minimally invasive spine surgery. He has various papers and publications published in spine journals.  He is associated with several professional bodies such as the North American Spine Society, The International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery, and the AO Spine (Asia-Pacific) Research Committee.
