About Prof. Franz Schaefer Prof. Franz Schaefer is a renowned Pediatric Nephrologist in Germany with 26+ years of experience. He has served on multiple professional boards including the Councils of the International Pediatric Nephrology Association, the European Society for Pediatric Nephrology, and the International Society for Peritoneal Dialysis. He won several national and international prizes and awards, including the Recklinghausen Award and the IBM Innovation Award. He received his M.D. in 1986 at Würzburg University Medical School and performed research scholarships at the Institute of Child Health, London, the University of Virginia, and Stanford University. He has expertise in areas such as diseases of the declining renal function, thyroid gland, adrenal gland, pituitary gland, endocrine organs, kidney inflammations, genetic kidney diseases, aftercare of kidney transplanted patients, complications of diabetes mellitus in the kidney, etc. Prof. Schaefer has a publication record of nearly 650 scientific articles and book chapters with more than 25,000 citations to date. He has also edited several books, including the international standard textbooks ‘Pediatric Kidney Disease’ and ‘Pediatric Dialysis’.
