About
Mr Iain Brown is a leading consultant orthopaedic surgeon based in Edinburgh, with over 25 years of experience. Mr Brown is a highly-experienced in a wide range of orthopaedic surgery procedures, with his areas of expertise including rotator cuff repair, shoulder stabilisation, frozen shoulder, shoulder replacement surgery, reverse total shoulder replacement, shoulder injuries and shoulder pain.
Mr Brown first qualified with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Glasgow in 1997. He then went on to receive an FRCS in Trauma and Orthopaedics from the Royal College of Surgeons.
Mr Brown has extensive experience as a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, having worked with orthopaedic teams in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London, Ayrshire. He also worked in the Accident & Emergency Unit in Gold Coast Hospitals, Australia. He has specialist knowledge of shoulder reconstruction, as well as elbow, hand and wrist surgery. Mr Brown strives to provide the best care possible for each patient.
He was appointed as a consultant in 2012 and currently serves on the highly-esteemed Trauma Unit at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. He also practises privately at the Spire Shawfield Park Hospital and the Nuffield Health Edinburgh Hospital.
In addition to his clinical work, Mr Brown remains committed to medical research. He received the Tenovus funding grant for molecular research into frozen shoulders. He is also an honorary clinical tutor at the University of Edinburgh.
