About Dr. Adriaan Hendrik (Attie) Botha Dr. Adriaan Hendrik (Attie) Botha is an orthopedic surgeon with over 15 years of experience in this profession. The doctor’s services include orthopedic spinal surgery. Dr. Attie Botha graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with an MB;ChB in 2005, and then completed his Internship at Windhoek Central Hospital in Windhoek, Namibia. He finished his community service year at Somerset West’s Helderberg Hospital in 2007 and continued to oversee the orthopaedic surgery department there until the end of 2009. He completed his postgraduate specialisation training in Orthopaedic Surgery and was recruited as a Registrar at Tygerberg Hospital in 2010. He received his MMed Orth (Stell) degree Cum Laude in 2014, and the University of Stellenbosch’s Faculty of Health Sciences gave him the Post Graduate Student of the Year Award for academic performance in a structured master’s degree. In the same year, he was awarded the renowned JM Edelstein medal by the College of Medicine for achieving a high level of academic competency in the Fellowship examination of the College of Orthopaedic Surgeons of South Africa. He completed an AO Spine Fellowship, making him a subspecialist in spine surgery. During this time, he worked with some of the most respected colleagues in the field of spine surgery and obtained considerable experience in the numerous sub-disciplines of the field. Dr. Botha has given numerous podium speeches at conferences and is involved in research that has been published in peer-reviewed journals. He’s a member of the South African Orthopaedic Association, the South African Spine Society, and AO Spine, among others.
