About Prof. Dr. Alp Gurkan Prof. Dr. Alp Gurkan is a well-known general surgeon as well as a transplant surgeon. He has more than 33 years in the field of organ transplant and general surgery. His area of interest lies in pancreas and liver transplants. He performed his first laparoscopic kidney procedure from a live donor in Turkey. Prof. Dr. Alp Gurkan was the first to establish the kidney exchange transplant program in Turkey. He has around 89 publications in both national as well as international journals. He has 174 presentations at National and International congresses. Prof. Dr. Alp Gurkan is an author of various books and translators also. He has a membership association with Turkish medical doctors union, Turkish national surgical society, American College of Surgeons, Aegeon surgical society, Turkish organ transplant institution association, and Turkish Society of Nephrology.
