About

I am an interventional radiologist — a physician who uses x-ray, CT scan, ultrasound, and MRI to perform procedures less invasively. These procedures are typically performed under moderate intravenous sedation instead of general anesthesia, allowing for quicker recovery times.
Much of my work focuses on providing minimally invasive treatments for thrombosis (clotting) in cancer patients; image-guided biopsies and thermal ablation of tumors; arterial and venous interventions for a variety of cancer types and cancer-related complications.

I discovered Interventional Radiology as a Radiology resident when we performed minimally invasive procedures on disabled veterans with arterial blockages in the legs. It was truly gratifying to see the patients the day after the procedure, walking up and down the hall without pain. The fact that the procedure was done through a tiny skin nick, with no incision to heal, was also a big plus. Over the years, I have applied similar techniques to cancer patients using minimally invasive techniques to treat a variety of conditions.
I believe it’s important to consider the entire person when treating cancer patients, weighing the pros and cons of every intervention and providing patient-centered care. Collaboration with our surgical and medical colleagues is critical to get their perspectives and consensus on the best treatment options.
