About Dr Amitabha Lahiri Dr Amitabha Lahiri is an orthopaedic surgeon having more than 15 years of expertise. Services provided by him includes treatment of injuries of the hand, compressive neuropathies, arthritis and microsurgical reconstruction of the hand. Dr. Lahiri received his specialty accreditation in hand surgery in 2008 and his Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999, for which he was awarded the gold medal by the College of Surgeons. He then received a one-year fellowship from the University Hospital of South Manchester, where he finished his master’s degree in tissue engineering from Manchester University. Treatment of hand injuries, compressive neuropathies, arthritis, and microsurgical reconstruction of the hand are some of his areas of interest. Dr. Lahiri worked as a Senior Consultant at the National University Hospital’s Department of Hand and Reconstructive Microsurgery and an Assistant Professor at the National University of Singapore’s Department of Orthopaedic Surgery before joining Raffles Hospital (NUS). Dr. Lahiri has published a significant number of articles in academic journals as a result of his research on carpal tunnel syndrome and hand sensory function. He received research funds from the National Medical Research Council in 2013 and 2015, and he just finished a significant collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Neurotechnology, NUS, on the creation of bionic brain interfaces. He is a co-inventor of a computer assisted microsurgery simulation system, which has now been adopted by numerous teaching facilities all over the world and received a full US patent. Dr Amitabha Lahiri is fluent in English.
