Dr. Brian F. Kavanagh

Dr. Kavanagh is a joint replacement expert who has performed over 8000 surgeries in the 35 years he’s been practicing medicine. He has been an integral figure in the evolution of joint replacement procedures. Twenty years ago, Dr. Kavanagh was the first doctor in Fairfield and Westchester to perform “minimally-invasive quadriceps-sparing” total knee replacement. The technique is known for not damaging the quadriceps tendon and requires less cutting of the muscle than in more conventional techniques. Advantages to this minimal incision technique include less blood loss, less tissue trauma, shorter hospital stay, faster recovery and a smaller scar.
