About Dr. Chirag Desai Dr. Chirag Desai is a leading Surgical Gastroenterologist with +19 years of experience in performing surgeries of the GI tract and treating cancers of the same.  He holds professional memberships of several regional, national and international medical societies. Some of the regional affiliations are,  the Ahmedabad Surgeons Association and the Gujarat State Surgeon’s Association & Gujarat State Chapter of ASI. Among the national societies are, the Indian Medical Association, Indian Association of Gastrointestinal EndoSurgeons, Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia Indian and the  Association of Surgical Gastroenterology. HIs international engagements include, the Fellow of Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Dr. Desai is a graduate of the NHL Municipal Medical College, Ahmedabad. He even did his MS in Ahmedabad from Seth KM School of Postgraduate Medicine and Research. He is a qualified DNB professional, after which he pursued FRCS in Edinburgh and Glasgow.  He also underwent a Fellowship at the Gujarat Cancer and Research Institute,  Ahmedabad.  Some of his pioneering surgeries include, performing the first living donor liver transplant, the first pediatric liver transplant and the first liver transplant without blood transfusion, all in Gujarat.  Dr. Desai is a specialised surgical gastroenterologist, with expertise in performing complex and cancer surgeries of liver, pancreas, gall bladder and intestine.    He is very active in conducting workshops, attending conferences and constantly working for making progress in his chosen field.  He also holds the notable distinction of conducting a series of awareness programs and contributing to a record number of people pledge for organ donation in a day, 12000+. This has been recorded in the India Book of Records.
