About Dr. D K Baruah Dr D K Baruah is a leading Cardiac Surgeon with +29 years of experience in performing cardiac surgeries and treating other cardiac conditions. He holds professional lifetime memberships of the Indian College of Cardiology, the Indian College of Interventional Cardiology and the Cardiological Society of India.  After completing his MBBS in 1987 from Assam Medical College, he did his MD in 1991. In 1996, he completed his DM from Christian Medical College, Vellore. He completed several fellowships from cardiology societies/academic institutions such as, American College of Cardiology, Society in Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention, Indian College of Cardiology, and the College of Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiology.  He is an expert at surgical procedures for implantable cardioverter defibrillator and permanent pacemakers among other minor procedures for cardiac conditions. Dr. Baruah has many firsts to his credit. He carried out the first percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty, percutaneous balloon vavuloplasty, percutaneous peripheral angioplasty in 1999. He also carried out the first percutaneous intervention in congenital heart disease, and has performed 25,000 diagnostic angiographic procedures and more than 7000 interventional procedures.  In 2002, he performed the first percutaneous carotid angioplasty under percusurge distal protection device.  He initiated independent interventional procedures (angioplasty) in Andhra Pradesh and has played significant role in its development. Dr. Baruah is an extremely dedicated and active medical professional as he has been instrumental in organising conferences and attending national and international conferences. He has co-authored various research papers and submitted and presented cases at cardiac conferences.
