About Dr. Desmond Ong Dr. Desmond Ong is an orthopedic surgeon having more than 20 years of expertise. Services provided by him includes wide range of sports and orthopedic conditions, with a focus on shoulder, elbow, and wrist concerns.  The National University of Singapore awarded Dr. Ong a degree in 2000, and in 2006, he earned a master’s degree in orthopaedic surgery. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and a licenced orthopaedic surgeon. The Ministry of Health also gave Dr. Ong a scholarship under the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) and the Excellent Service Gold Award. The Faculty of Medicine at the Chinese University of Hong Kong appointed him as a visiting scholar in 2011. He also worked at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong during this time, advancing his clinical interest in cutting-edge upper limb arthroscopic surgery with a focus on the wrist and elbow. Dr. Ong is actively involved in clinical tutoring at the National University of Singapore in addition to his clinical work. He has presented or given a lecture at regional and international gatherings. He is a member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association and the Singapore Society for Hand Surgery. Additionally, he is actively involved in community activities in the NorthEast CDC and Ang Mo Kio GRC. Dr. Desmond Ong is fluent in English, Malay, Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Hainanese, and Mandarin.
