About Dr.Elwin Buchel Dr.Elwin Buchel is a Gastroenterologist with nearly 51+ years of experience to his credit. He completed his MBChB and M. Med (Int.) in 1970 and 1983 respectively. He was awarded a doctorate (Medicine) in 2008 from the University of Pretoria. He reaped his post-graduate training in various parts of the world including Amsterdam, Netherlands; Pittsburgh, USA; Paris, France; Leuven, Belgium; and Barcelona, Spain. He even obtained the SKF Gastroenterology travelling fellowship in the year 1985. During his medical practice, he has received several awards in his professional career. Heyl Award (1984), The Honorary Silver Medal from the University of Pretoria (1990), Eugene Marais Branch-SA Academy of Arts and Science (1994) and Roussel-SAGES award (1996) are a named few. His medical interest lies in the management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Gallbladder Disease, GERD, Chronic liver diseases (hepatosteatosis, chronic hepatitis B, chronic hepatitis C, liver cirrhosis), Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, etc. Dr.Elwin Buchel has shared his medical knowledge through national and international publications and is an active guest speaker in scientific meetings.
