About Dr. Emel Gönen Dr. Emel Gönen is an Orthopedics and Traumatology specialist with 28+ years of experience. She has expertise in pediatric orthopaedics, rotational and angular deformities, pediatric trauma, pediatric problems of the hip, knee and foot, cerebral palsy and neurological disorders.   Education Dr. Gönen graduated from Hacettepe University, Ankara in 1991. She carried out a medical exchange program at Northwestern University, Chicago in 1991. Furthermore, she completed her residency in orthopaedics and traumatology in Ankara Numune Research and Training Hospital by working there as specialist until 2000.    Experience Dr. Gönen worked in Ankara Diskapi Research and Training Hospital between 2000-2017 as Associate Professor and educator in a residency program since 2012. She worked as a research fellow at the University of Pittsburgh in the departments of Spine and Sports- Traumatology at UPMC and Children’s Hospital in Pittsburg.    Memberships She is a member of Turkish Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology (TOTBID), National Delegate of Turkish Society of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Pediatric Orthopedic Association Member, Executive Board Member, Turkish Orthopedics and Traumatology Education Council (TOTEK) Member, Turkish Orthopedic Research Association (TOAK), Turkish Spine Society (TOD). Additionally, she is a Board Certified Member, SICOT (International Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology), APOA (Asia Pasific Orthopedic Association), Turkish Medical Association (TTB) Crediting and Accreditation Committee, Cerebral Palsy Study Group, and TOTBID Committee for the Rights of Medical Doctors.
