About Dr. Fayaz Shawl Dr. Fayaz Shawl is a leading, skilled and highly experienced Interventional Cardiologist with a vast experience of +43 years.  He holds professional memberships of the American Medical Association, the Southern Medical  Association besides being a fellow of, the American College of Physicians and the American College of Cardiology among a few others. In 1973, he did his MBBS and then in 1979, completed his residency from the American Board of Internal Medicine as a Specialist. In 1981, he pursued PG education as a specialist in cardiovascular diseases. Between 1972-74, Dr. Shawl did internships, residencies and also served as a Medical Officer in Jammu, India. Between 1974-78, after a brief stint as a Clinical Asst, he held senior positions in hospitals in the UK and as a resident in the USA. In the US, he held many positions as a professor and as administrative heads.  Dr. Shawl is an expert interventional cardiologist, reputed to perform, balloon angioplasty, directional/rotational atherectomy, coronary stenting, high-risk/complex PCI, high-risk/inoperable CPS supported angioplasty, mitral/aortic valvuloplasty, TAVR, PFO/ASD closure, alcohol septal ablation for IHSS and peripheral procedures such as, carotid stenting, subclavian, renal and aortic aneurysm repair among a few others. He has been on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Invasive Cardiology; has been a reviewer of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, European Heart Journal, American Journal of Cardiology and the Journal of Invasive Cardiology among a few others. As a principal investigator and co-investigator, he has participated in many research projects and has co-authored research papers. He has also written chapters for books.
