About Dr Joan Thong Pao-Wen Dr Joan Thong Pao-Wen is an obstetrician and gynaecologist and reproductive medicine specialist having more than 10 years of expertise. Services provided by her includes a comprehensive range of fertility services including  ovulation induction, superovulation, intra- uterine insemination and state of the art in-vitro fertilization with intracytoplasmic injection and embryo cryopreservation. She pursued MBBS from Singapore and finished her training at the Kandang Kerbau Hospital before moving on to Edinburgh. Dr. Thong is a certified IVF specialist with the Singapore Ministry of Health. Dr. Thong is a highly skilled reproductive surgeon who primarily restores natural fertility by first rectifying a structural issue utilising highly refined hysteroscopic and laparoscopic surgical procedures. She is also quite proficient at employing these surgical treatments in conjunction with IUI or IVF to significantly increase the success rate of getting pregnant after these two assisted reproductive technologies. She also has very advanced abilities in general minimally invasive gynaecological surgery, which she uses to remove very large uterine fibroids, ovarian cysts, and the uterus by keyhole surgery to help patients feel better and to prevent gynaecological malignancies. She was a member of the team of consultant surgeons that successfully separated two infant Korean conjoint twin sisters in July 2003. The twins were linked at the pelvis, the lower end of their spines, the lower end of their intestines, and certain sections of their genitalia.
