Dr. Hsu graduated from Rutgers School of Public Health with a Master of Public Health. She received her Medical Degree from Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, New Brunswick, New Jersey, where she was given the Rudolph C. Camishion MD Award for Academic Excellence in Surgery.

She also completed her Residency and Internship in General Surgery at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. During that time, she received several awards, including the Outstanding Laparo-Endoscopic Resident Award, the Stephen F. Lowry, MD, Award: “Outstanding Contribution to the General Surgery Residency,” and the Prem Award: “Outstanding Intern of the Year.”

She obtained a Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery from St. Joseph Mercy Health System, Colon and Rectal Surgery program, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Dr. Hsu has a background in medical research, including as a Research Student the University of Maryland, evaluating scoring systems using the Shock Trauma database, and at University of Pennsylvania, where she worked with yeast stem cells in the treatment of leukemia. She previously worked as a clinical research associate for ETHICON, Inc., researching, designing, running and auditing FDA approved clinical trials for medical devices. She has given numerous presentations and is an author of several publications in medical journals.
