About Dr. Lucia Heras Dr. Lucia Heras is a  renowned and a highly experienced Orthopedic & Joint Replacement Surgeon having +25 years of experience and with a special focus on orthopedic conditions of the upper limb. She holds professional memberships of the, Spanish Society of Hand Surgery, the British Society of Hand Surgery and the European Society of Hand Surgery. Dr. Heras completed her medical education at the Complutense University of Madrid, Spain in 1980. She is a skilled orthopedic surgeon with expertise to surgically treat surgical correction for hand deformities, fingers and small joint replacement, removal of benign or malignant tumors, or lumps in the hand/wrist, management of wrist fractures, management of congenital malformation, distal radioulnar instability, treatment for chronic hand and wrist pain, malunion of finger fracture treatment, treatment for rheumatoid and osteoarthritis of the hands. She has been at the forefront of developing her hand unit for 13 years at the Newham University Hospital, UK. In the UAE, she set up the first IAOC, the first congress dedicated to hand surgery, now run by the UAE society for hand surgery.  An active academician, Dr. Heras has shared her experiences at various national and international congresses and conferences.  Dr. Heras served as a faculty n the 2-year fellowship training program in hand surgery in the Gaza Strip as part of humanitarian work for a period of 6 years.  She has published several papers on wrist trauma, congenital wrist malformations and fracture fixation of the hand, has been a co-writer of a book and also written a chapter in the “Hand Surgery Book” IFSSH 2010.
