About Dr. Marianne Kruger Professor Mariana Kruger, MD, PhD, is a paediatric oncologist and ethicist.  She has published 7 chapters, 52 peer-reviewed publications and 41 peer-reviewed conference abstracts. She has been principal investigator on several paediatric clinical trials and co-investigator on others.  Her clinical care includes the management of children with cancer and haematological disorders in Tygerberg Hospital.  Professor Mariana is a member of the International Society of Paediatric Oncology (SIOP) since 1992 by peer review process and is active in an advisory capacity regarding the management of childhood cancer and HIV/AIDS in children, as well as research ethics issues in paediatric research. She has participated in the organization of several international and national conferences regarding paediatrics, paediatric oncology and research ethics. She has been an invited speaker at national and international paediatrics, paediatric oncology and ethics conferences. Her teaching experience includes bioethics, research ethics, paediatrics and paediatric oncology at under- and postgraduate levels nationally and internationally.  She serves as a member of the following national and international committees: Member of the Central Clinical Committee of the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA), the Senate Research Ethics Committee of Stellenbosch University, and member of the Postgraduate Committee of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences Stellenbosch University.
