Dr. Gordon received his medical degree from Northwestern University Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at The New York Hospital-Cornell University Medical Center, now known as New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He then completed a Fellowship in Surgical Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. His accomplished academic record includes active service as an Instructor in Surgery at The New York Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center and later as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at Cornell University Medical College.

Dr. Gordon has been a member of the surgical staff at White Plains Hospital for more than 25 years. He was a previous Chief of Surgery and currently serves as Chairman of the Cancer Committee and Surgical Director of the Cancer Program. He is an author on numerous scholarly articles and chapters in surgery with a particular focus on pancreatic cancer. Among his most significant work is an important study of the use of tumor markers in the evaluation and monitoring of patients with pancreatic cancer.
