About Dr. Matthias Karck Dr. Matthias Karck is one of the finest Cardiac Surgeons in Germany with the experience of 33+ years in the field. He has been the Deputy Chairmen of the German Marfan Help eV and the Spokesperson of the working group “Aortic Surgery & Interventional Vascular Surgery” of the German Society of Thoracic, Cardiac & Vascular Surgery. He studied human medicine at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel in 1980 and did his Ph.D. at the same Institute in 1986. Later, he completed his Habilitation with the Venia legendi for surgery at the Medical University of Hanover in 1987. He has been was awarded several fellowships and training programs along with being on the Scientific advisory board of Deutsche Marfan Hilfe eV. Dr. Karck’s area of interest includes Heart transplantation, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, Mitral Valve Repairs, Surgery for Heart Failure, ASD, VSD, Left Ventricular Aneurysm Surgery, Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy, etc. He has authored over 200 scientific publications and articles in national and international Journals.
