About Dr. Pieter Van Der Bijl Dr. Pieter Van Der Bijl is a Cardiologist with over 17 years of experience in this profession. Services provided by the doctor includes stress echocardiography, three-dimensional (3D) and deformation imaging. Dr. Pieter Van Der Bijl received his medical degree with honours from Stellenbosch University in 2005 and was recognised as a Fellow/specialist physician to the College of Physicians of South Africa in 2011.  He began his studies as a cardiologist in the same university’s Division of Cardiology in 2012, and received his Certificate in Cardiology from the College of Physicians of South Africa in 2014.  He began a Cardiac Imaging Fellowship and a PhD in Cardiac Imaging (granted in 2020) at Leiden University Medical Centre in the Netherlands, under the guidance of renowned Prof. Jeroen J. Bax, after working as a cardiologist at SA Endovascular for a year. Dr. Pieter Van Der Bijl is a member of the South African Heart Association, European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, European Heart Rhythm Association, Cardiac Imaging Society of South Africa, Heart Failure Society of South Africa, and South African Society for Cardiovascular Research. Dr. Van der Bijl is a dedicated researcher who has produced multiple scientific publications and book chapters, as well as serving as a peer-reviewer for cardiology journals on a regular basis. Dr. Pieter Van Der Bijl is fluent in English.
