About Dr. Refai Showkathali Dr. Refai Showkathali is an interventional cardiologist with 18+ years of experience. He has won an award for Academic Poster of the Year- East of England Deanery and Research Proposal of the Year (Runner-Up) – East of England Deanery. He is a member of British Cardiovascular Society and Tamil Nadu Medical Council. He has completed MBBS and fellowship in Royal College of Physicians, The American College of Cardiology and European Society of Cardiology (FESC). Dr. Showkathali undertook a Fellowship in structural heart disease intervention such as Balloon aortic valvuloplasty (BAV), Transcatheter Aortic Valve implantation (TAVI), PFO and ASD Closure at King’s College Hospital, London – one of the important TAVI centre in UK performing around 100 TAVIs per annum since Aug 2007. He regularly presents research papers in conferences in Europe, UK and USA. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious International Journals.
