About Dr. Rory Dower Dr. Rory Dower is a plastic, reconstructive and aesthetic surgeon with over 15 years of experience in this profession. The doctor’s services include a wide array of cosmetic surgery procedures with a special interest in breast reconstruction and treatment for lymphedema. His educational qualifications include degrees in MBChB, MRCS FC Plastic Surgery (SA) and MMed (Plastic Surgery). He went on to complete two international fellowships in microsurgery after finishing his undergraduate degree at UCT and specialised training at the University of Limpopo. The first, including breast reconstruction, took place at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. The second was an advanced microsurgery fellowship in Taiwan, which focused on all elements of microsurgical reconstruction, including difficult head and neck reconstruction and lymphedema treatment. Then, at the Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in New York, he did a two-week observership in implant breast reconstruction. Dr. Dower worked as an aesthetic fellow at The London Clinic on Harley Street, where he assisted with rhinoplasty and a variety of other cosmetic surgery operations. He completed a rhinoplasty observership at the Marien Hospital in Stuttgart, and he has travelled to several places around the United States to watch the skills of top cosmetic surgeons in their disciplines. Dr Dower was awarded Best Clinical Paper in 2009 and 2011, as well as Best Publication in 2012, by the Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons of Southern Africa (APRSSA) during his specialist training. In 2014, he gave a presentation on breast reconstruction at the European Association of Plastic Surgeons (EURAPS) Annual Meeting. Dr. Rory Dower is fluent in English.
