About Dr. Roy Koh Kiok Ming Dr. Roy Koh Kiok Ming is a neurosurgeon having more than 25 years of expertise. Services provided by him includes minimally invasive spine surgery, and minimally invasive neurosurgery employing endoscopes and needlescopes for diseases including pituitary tumours and sympathectomy for palmar hyperhydrosis. Dr. Roy Koh Kiok Ming graduated from NUS in 2000, after earning his MRCS (Edin), Master in Medicine (Surgery), and Basic Surgical training in 2004, 2006, and 2008, respectively. He began a fellowship at the Professor John Pickard-led Neurosurgical Department at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge in 2010. He trained there for a year under Mr. Rodney Laing, a leading spinal surgeon in the UK. After passing the fellowship exams (FRCSEd Neuro.surg), he went back to work as a consultant neurosurgeon in the Department of Surgery at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, where he played a key role in establishing the combined spine service as the facility’s first neurosurgical spine consultant. Dr. Koh is qualified to handle a variety of spinal and neurosurgery conditions. He has performed Singapore’s first minimally invasive removal of a spinal tumour as well as other spine surgeries, from straightforward discectomies, laminectomies, TLIF (transforamina lumbar interbody fusion), cervical fusion, and disc replacements to complex scoliosis and deformity corrective surgeries, as well as spine tumours. His interests are in minimally invasive (keyhole) spine surgeries for tumours, degenerative, and trauma-related In addition, he has training in handling neuro-oncologic and neurovascular disorders, including performing procedures on the skull base, cutting cerebral aneurysms, removing brain tumours, evacuating intracranial haemorrhages, and more. He has received training in the use of Gamma knives in radiosurgery for trigeminal neuralgia, vascular malformations, and cerebral metastases.
