About Dr. Ruth Kam Dr. Ruth Kam is a cardiologist having more than 35 years of expertise. Services provided by her includes electrophysiology and pacing, preventive cardiology and sports and fitness. She graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1986 with a basic medical degree and was a President’s Scholar (1981 to 1985). She completed her internal medicine residency programme and earned her MRCP in the UK in 1990 and her Master of Internal Medicine in Singapore in 1991. She then completed her specialist training in cardiology at the Singapore General Hospital (1991–1994) before moving on to Massachusetts General Hospital (USA), where she received additional training in cardiac electrophysiology and catheter ablation (1994–1955) as well as in the implantation of cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators (1995-1996).  She was a medical research fellow at Harvard University as well (1994-1995). She completed the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology’s 1997 special competency test in cardiac pacing and defibrillation (NASPE). She received her Fellowship from the Academy of Medicine in Singapore in 1998. She earned her FRCP in 2000 from the Edinburgh-based Royal College of Physicians. She serves as a consultant to the Singapore Sports Council on issues including the usage of AEDs in open sporting events. In several South East Asian nations, she has served as a proctor for lead extraction and device implant procedures. She has published 65 abstracts at scientific gatherings in addition to 31 original publications in peer-reviewed journals. In multicenter pacemaker investigations like the SAFE project, she took part. Dr. Ruth Kam is fluent in English, and Mandarin.
