About Dr. Samuel Mathew Kalarickal With 39+ years of experience, Dr. Samuel Mathew Kalarickal is a cardiologist and is known as the father of angioplasty in India. He is a recipient of Padmashri by the President of India – fourth highest civilian award in India. He specializes in carotid stenting, coronary angioplasty, coronary stenting and rotablator atherectomy. He completed his MBBS degree from Government Medical College, Kottayam, MD from Stanley Medical College, Chennai and DM from Madras Medical College, Chennai. He holds the credit of performing more than 10,000 angioplasties, 3000 Intra Coronary Stenting and 800 Rotablation cases. He did fellowship from the European Society of Cardiology, Society of Cardiovascular. Angiography and Interventions and American College of Cardiology. Dr. Mathew is a founder chairman of National Angioplasty Registry of India and president of Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology. He completed his training in coronary angioplasty from Andreas Gruentzig, US and cardiovascular radiation therapy from Washington DC. He is regularly invited as a faculty to annual conferences and meetings of various medical associations. He has won: Dr. B. C. Roy Award in Interventional Cardiology in 1996 Lifetime Achievement Award for contributions in Cardiology in 2008 Doctor of Science Award by the Dr. M.G.R. University in 2003 “Rashtriya Samman” (top taxpayers award) in 2000
