He is a Fellow in Cardiothoracic Surgery, Chief Resident in Cardiothoracic Surgery from Boston Medical Centre and Lahey Clinic, Boston, USA, and FCCP – Elected Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians. He has performed more than 7000 Cardio-Vascular surgeries and has helped set up of Cardiology units in nearly six hospitals. Dr. Kaushik has been awarded the Dr. Bhave Prize (Pune University) for standing second in the subject of surgery at the MBBS examination, the Godbole Prize, the Dr. B. N. Ranade Prize, and the G.M. Phadke Prize (Pune University) for standing first at the MS (Gen. Surgery) examination in 1992.
