About Dr. Shim Hang Hock Dr. Shim Hang Hock is a gastroenterologist having more than 12 years of expertise. Services provided by him includes capsule endoscopy, colon cancer screening, general gastroenterology, hepatology, inflammatory bowel disease, small bowel enteroscopy and therapeutic endoscopy. He is particularly interested in screening for gut cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases including ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease. Dr. Shim graduated with a bachelor’s degree in medicine from the University of Southampton in the UK in 2007 and was certified as a gastrointestinal specialist in 2015. In 2016, the Ministry of Health in Singapore granted him a scholarship through the Healthcare Manpower Development Programme to pursue an advanced fellowship at Calgary, Canada, one of the largest inflammatory bowel disease centres in the world, under the guidance of Professors Remo Panaccione and Cynthia Seow. In prestigious medical journals, Dr. Shim has published a number of peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Additionally, he has been asked to review articles for medical publications and is actively participating in a number of clinical trials. These showcase his clinical competence in the field of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), particularly in the treatment of patients with complex conditions, the utilisation of cutting-edge medicines, and the effects of pregnancy on IBD. Dr. Shim participates in medical advisory boards and is frequently invited to lecture at and serve as faculty at local and regional medical conferences.  He is a strong proponent of patient-centered, holistic care, is well-liked by his patients, and has earned numerous service-related honours for his commitment to providing excellent care.
