About

Snehal P. Amin, MD, specializes in medical dermatology and cosmetic surgery at Medical Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery (MDCS) in New York. He co-founded the multi-location practice in 2010 and serves as its surgical director and a senior partner.

Dr. Amin has special expertise in treating skin cancer with Mohs surgery and facial reconstruction; using lasers and other treatments to manage a wide array of skin concerns; and performing body and facial contouring with BodyTite™ and FaceTite™ radiofrequency-assisted liposuction and lipolysis technologies. He sees both adults and children.

Dr. Amin strives to help every patient achieve and maintain healthy skin, which in turn optimizes the skin’s appearance.

“I believe that all skin surgeries have a significant cosmetic component,” he says. “The skin on your shin is just as important as the skin on your nose, and we treat it that way.”

“Healthy skin and great-looking skin go hand in hand, and we offer patients a lot of options for getting both,” adds Dr. Amin. “Some procedures, such as skin-resurfacing surgery, get rid of precancerous lesions while erasing years of sun damage at the same time.”

Dr. Amin earned his medical degree at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. After finishing his training at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, he completed both a three-year dermatology residency (serving as chief resident in the final year) at Weill Cornell Medicine and a one-year fellowship in Mohs, laser, and cosmetic surgery at Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey.

He is both a clinical assistant professor of dermatology in Weill Cornell Medical College’s department of dermatology and an attending physician at Columbia Health in New York City. Dr. Amin has also served for many years as an independent medical examiner, expert witness, and consultant.

Prior to founding MDCS Dermatology, Dr. Amin spent five years as an associate dermatologist with Skin Laser & Surgery Specialists of New York and New Jersey — after spending six years with APM Management Consultants, doing consulting for pharmaceutical companies and hospitals.

Dr. Amin is certified by the American Board of Dermatology and licensed to practice in both New York and New Jersey. He is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, and American Academy of Dermatology.

He speaks fluent Gujarati and conversational Spanish and Hindi.
