About Dr. Somaskandar Sivasuntharam With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Somaskandar Sivasuntharam is a skilled Gynaecologist and Obstetrician.  He is capable of treating the majority of obstetrics and gynaecological issues, with a special interest in Reproductive Medicine, notably the management of infertility and the performance of Minimally Invasive Gynecological Surgeries (Key-Hole Surgery).  Dr. Somaskandar Sivasuntharam was the Penang State representative for the Obstetrical & Gynaecological Society of Malaysia (2012-2014), the Malaysian Medical Association, the Perinatal Society of Malaysia, the Society for Anti-Aging and Aesthetic Medicine Malaysia (SAAAMM) and the World Endometriosis Society.  He was invited to be a member of the Academy of Medicine in 2008.  He is also the Medical Officer in Charge for the Malaysian Red Crescent (Cross) Society, Penang branch as well as the former Secretary to the Penang Medical Practitioners’ Society.  He is currently the President-elect of the Penang Medical Practitioners’ Society. Dr. Somaskandar Sivasuntharam has several publications, journals, and articles to his name.   He has completed an MBBS (1991) from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore, India. He has done MD (2002) from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. He subsequently undertook further training in Gynecologic Endoscopic Surgery (Laparoscopic Surgery / Minimally Invasive Surgery-MIS) at the Indian Institute of Laparoscopic Surgery Research & Training Centre-Coimbatore, India. He then trained in the management of subfertility especially In-Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) at National University Hospital, Singapore and Bangalore Assisted Conception Centre, India. He has a Master of Reproductive Medicine (MD, 2018) from the University of New South Wales, Australia. Dr. Somaskandar Sivasuntharam is well-versed in English, Bahasa Melayu, Bahasa Indonesia, Hokkien and Tamil.
