Mr Andrej Kidess is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon at The Priory Hospital in Birmingham and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. He has a special interest in macular procedures such macular hole, epiretinal membrane and diabetic eye surgeries but also complex cataract surgeries.

Mr Kidess is a dedicated Retinal Specialist who is highly trained in medical retina, surgical retina, cataracts and uveitis. With his dedication, skill and expertise in these areas, he has made a major impact within the ophthalmology department of University Hospitals Birmingham, ensuring their continued success by tackling key medical and surgical retina capacity issues.

He is the Lead of Vitreoretinal service at UHB and the Lead of the supra regional Von Hipple Lindau (VHL) service, as well as Clinical Laser Protection Supervisor for the department.

Mr Kidess’ wealth of skill and experience as a comprehensive ophthalmologist is derived from extensive education and training. He completed two fellowships in medical retina at the Queen Elizbeth Hospital and another two fellowships in vitreoretinal surgery at Western Eye Hospital in London. He dedicates his career to his patients but he also commits to medical research and has published a number of articles in peer-reviewed ophthalmology journals as well as book chapters. He regularly speaks at key national and international meetings.

Mr Kidess is a member of European Board of Ophthalmology, Euretina, ESCRS (European and UK Societies of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons) and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
