Mr Arnold Christiaan Goede is an expert colorectal and general surgeon based in Buckinghamshire whose expertise includes laparoscopic colorectal and general surgery, colonoscopy and gastroscopy, laparoscopic and open hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery and assessment and management of patients with pelvic floor dysfunction and prolapse.

Mr Goede works at the BMI Chiltern Hospital where he practices as a specialist colorectal surgeon and attends patients with general abdominal, colorectal and pelvic floor problems. He was previously the director of the department of general surgery and is director of medical education for the St George’s School of Medicine, Grenada. In addition, he is also the educational supervisor to higher surgical trainees attending from Oxford, and is the regional representative at the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGB) for the Oxford Chapter.

In 1996, Mr Goede graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa. After moving to the UK, he worked as a basic surgical trainee for four years and then went on to graduate with an MS from the University of London. In 2004, he attained a Higher Surgical Training number on the Oxford Training Scheme where he completed his specialist training in 2010. During this time he gained clinical exposure to complex colorectal surgery and laparoscopic surgery and generated a specialist interest in these areas and pelvic floor surgery as well. He finished his training with an Advanced Laparoscopic Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Surgery Fellowship.

Mr Goede is within the top 5 surgeons in the UK by volume for bowel cancer resections with excellent outcomes. Additionally, he is the Enhanced Recovery Programme Lead, the Nutrition Lead for Surgery, Combined abdominal wall reconstructive surgeon with plastic surgeons, and the lead general surgeon for the National Spìnal Injuries Unit, giving Mr Goede a wide and varied, yet highly specialist general and colorectal surgery practice.
