About
Mr Dimitrios Nikolaou is a consultant gynaecologist with sub-specialist accreditation in reproductive medicine and surgery, as well as an educator and senior academic researcher. He is one of the world’s leading authorities in reproductive ageing and fertility, including optimising fertility outcomes over 40, early ovarian ageing (an entity he first introduced and described internationally) and fertility preservation, including egg freezing and embryo freezing.
He is an expert in all aspects of infertility and assisted conception, as well as fertility preservation for medical or social reasons. He is a tutor for reproductive surgery and is accredited in advanced endoscopic surgery. Currently, Dr Nikolaou leads the reproductive ageing and fertility programme at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, and the school of reproductive medicine, which includes one of the longest-established sub-specialty training programmes in Europe.
Mr Nikolaou has been training consultant gynaecologists and fertility specialists for over 15 years. He has a long-standing interest in strategy development. He is passionate about patient support and the development of organisational systems to optimise patient experience. He runs a monthly patient support group at the Fertility Centre, Chelsea and Westminster. He is the founder of fertility for life, an organisation that promotes a more creative and fulfilling way of life.
