About
Mr Yesar El-Dhuwaib is a revered consultant general and laparosocpic colorectal surgeon with over 25 years’ experience, based in East Sussex and Tunbridge Wells. He predominantly concentrates on colonoscopy, bowel surgery and rectal prolapse, as well as gall bladder surgery, transAnal minimally invasive surgery (TAMIS) and haemorrhoids.
Mr El-Dhuwaib initiated his medical studies at Al-Mustansirya University in Baghdad, Iraq, graduating with a bachelor of medicine, bachelor of surgery (Mb ChB) in 1998. Following completion of his primary medical studies, Mr El-Dhuwaib moved to the UK to undergo further medical training, gaining a wealth of knowledge through training in Manchester, Bristol, York and Leeds. During this time, he successfully completed a fellowship in bowel dysfunction and inflammatory bowel disease at The Royal London Hospital (Barts Health).
Alongside his main areas of expertise, he also holds a special interest in advanced minimal invasive surgery (keyhole) for diverticular disease, colitis and crohn’s disease, as well as areas such as haemorrhoids, hernias and bowel surgery. Mr El-Dhuwaib is an expert in the area of colonoscopy and is JAG accredited for colonoscopy. He is a highly accomplished surgeon and has performed over 300 bowel cancer surgeries, 300 hernia repairs and over 100 operations for haemorrhoids, fissure in ano, pilonidal sinus surgery and fistula surgery in his career to date.
Additionally, Mr El-Dhuwaib thrives in the research aspect of medicine, having published several different articles in renowned peer reviewed medical journals including The World Journal of Surgery and The British Journal of Surgery.
He was awarded the Brendan Devlin Prize by The British Hernia society and has been nominated twice for the reputable Karl Storz Award from the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery EAES in 2009 and 2013.
Mr El-Dhuwaib enjoys sharing his medical knowledge with surgeons of the future, holding the position of surgical lead for medical students at East Sussex Healthcare Trust. He is also a fellow of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons.
