About Prof. D. Kannan Prof. D. Kannan is one of the best surgical gastroenterologists having 40 years of experience in this field. He is adept in treating abdominal pain, peptic/gastric ulcer, acute Pancreatitis, appendicitis, ulcerative colitis etc. His areas of interest are Endoscopy, Laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery, GI cancer surgeries etc. He was awarded the “Best Doctor Award” by the Times Group in Category of Stalwarts (2018) and by the Government of Tamil Nadu (2015). He was bestowed with honorary FRCS from Glasgow University in 2009 and joined later as a teaching faculty. He is highly skilled in the field of hepato- biliary and pancreatic surgeries, accomplishing more than 2000 surgeries. He has published 20 papers in International journals. He holds membership of esteemed associations which include Indian Medical Association (IMA), Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), Indian Society of Gastroenterology, Tamil Nadu Chapter of Indian society of Gastroenterology, and Association of Minimal Access Surgeons of India (AMASI). Prof. D. Kannan pursued MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from Madras Medical College, Chennai, in 1982 and 1986, respectively.
