About Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hemmer Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hemmer is a Neurologist based in Heidelberg with over 37+ years of experience. He is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of the German MS Society, Scientific Board Member of the German Multiple Sclerosis competence networks, Co-Speaker (2009-2012), Speaker (2012- 2016), Secretary (Since 2016), and Member of the Executive Committee of the European congress for the treatment and research in multiple sclerosis (Treasurer (2012 – 2016), Vice President (Since 2016). He also acts as an Advisory Board Member of the Archives of Neurology, Experimental Neurology, Multiple sclerosis Journal. After studying human medicine, he obtained his doctorate at the University of Freiburg in 1991 and started working at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, USA, in 1995 with a German Research Foundation (DFG) grant.  He obtained his specialist medical training at the university hospitals in Freiburg and Marburg and worked as a senior physician in Marburg and as Deputy Clinic Director in Düsseldorf. His work focuses on research into B-cells and T-cells in inflammatory diseases of the central nervous system, especially multiple sclerosis (MS).  She is the author of more than 50 research papers and reviews publications both nationally and internationally.
