About Prof. Dr. Helmut Friess Prof. Dr. Helmut Friess is a General Surgeon with experience of more than 32 years. He is a member of the Publication Committee of the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, General Assembly, United European Gastroenterology Federation (UEGF), Honorary Member, Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences, Bucharest, Romania, President, Association of Bavarian Surgeons (VBC), and much more. He is also on the Editorial Board of the Journal of the Pancreas, Editorial Board of the International Journal of Pancreatology, Langenbeck’s Archives of Surgery, Secretary of the European Society for Digestive Surgery (EDS), and External Reviewer, Surgical Forum, German Surgical Society. He studied medicine at theUniversity of Ulm, Ulm, Germany in 1988, and Habilitation in “Growth factors and growth factor receptors in pancreatic cancer” (Prof. Dr. med. M. W. Büchler), University of Bern, Switzerland in 1998. He also has a Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2000. Prof. Friess’s primary emphasis is on treating malignant tumors of the colon liver, biliary tract, and pancreas, thyroid, lung, etc
