About Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Eckardt Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Eckardt is a Nephrologist with 16+ years of experience in the field. He is the founding member and former chairman of the International Association Kidney Disease: Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO), and former board member of the German, European & International Society for Nephrology. After studying medicine at the University of Münster and at the Welsh National School of Medicine in Cardiff, he received his doctorate at the Human Genetics Institute of the University of Münster. Later, he completed his habilitation in the field of physiology at the University of Regensburg. He has a keen interest in areas such as Diagnosis and treatment of kidney diseases like chronic kidney disease, acute renal failure, glomerular nephritis, polycystic kidney diseases, vasculitis, tubulopathies, kidney stone diseases, rare kidney diseases, etc. Dr. Eckardt has been the initiator and leader of a national cohort study on chronic kidney diseases and has written various publications in peer-reviewed journals.
