About Prof. Dr. med. Michael Schmoeckel Prof. Dr. med. Michael Schmoeckel is a cardiac surgeon with 37+ years of experience. His clinical interest includes heart valve reconstruction, valve transplantation, ventricular assist devices and xenotransplantation. He won Ernst Derra Prize by the German Society for Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular Surgery and Research Award by German Heart Foundation, Frankfurt. Dr. Schmoeckel did graduation followed by post-graduation from University of Kaiserslautern and Witten-Herdecke. He did training in cardiac surgery from Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. He is a member of the German Society for Thoracic, Cardiac and Vascular Surgery (DGTHG), German Transplant Society (DTG), European Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (EACTS), International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation (ISHLT), International Xenotransplantation Association (IXA) and The Transplantation Society (TTS).
