About Prof. Dr. Stephan Achenbach Prof. Dr. Stephan Achenbach is an Interventional Cardiologist with 25+ years of experience in the field. He is currently a Board Member of ESC and  Chair of the Congress Program Committee and serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography. He was the Founding President of the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography from 2005-2007 and served as a Vice President of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) for 2014-2016. Dr. Achenbach has received several awards, including the Jan Brod Award for Clinical Research of the Medical School of Hannover, Germany (1999), the Thomas C. Cesario Distinguished Visiting Professorship Award from the University of California Irvine School of Medicine (2007), and many more. He graduated from the University of Erlangen medical school in 1993 and has worked in the Department of Cardiology of the University of Erlangen and also Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston (2002–2003) and the Department of Cardiology, University of Gießen (2011–2012). He has extensive experience in all adjunctive Coronary Interventional techniques including pressure wire evaluation, IVUS, optical coherence tomography, distal protection device use, rotational atherectomy, etc.
