About Prof. Dr. Thomas Klockgether With 28+ years of experience, Prof. Dr. Thomas Klockgether is a neurologist known for handling complex cases with ease. His clinical interest includes treatment of Parkinsonâs disease, cerebrovascular disease, multiple sclerosis and headache disorders. He studied medicine at the University of Göttingen, Germany and also carried out research on Parkinsonâs disease at the Max Planck Institute. After graduation, Prof. Klockgether went to Oldenburg for clinical training and completed his specialist training in degenerative ataxias at Tübingen. He has been Speaker of the Zentrum für seltene Erkrankungen Bonn (ZSEB) and is Director of Clinical Research at the DZNE. Prof. Klockgether has received numerous awards, including the C3âSchilling professorship for theoretical and clinical medicine and the âHolmes Prizeâ of the Fondation de lâAtaxie cérébelleuse (FAC). He holds several scientific roles – coordinator of the clinical part of the EU-funded project EUROSCA, speaker of the DFG Research Group âInnate Immunityâ, coordinator of the European RISCA project (EâRare program) and speaker of the Ataxia Study Group (ASG).
