About Prof. Oz Shapira Prof. Oz Shapira is a highly-experienced Cardiothoracic Surgeon in Israel. He has a total experience of 38 years and has developed a special interest in Cardiovascular Surgery. He completed his basic medical education at Hebrew University and a rotating internship at Kaplan Hospital, Rehovot, Israel followed by M.D. in 1984. He has served as an Instructor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, and Professor at Boston University School of Medicine.  He is associated with various professional organizations including the American Heart Association, Thoracic Surgery Directors Association, American College of Surgeons, American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, Israel Medical Association, etc. He was honored with six separate awards for excellence in medical studies for the years 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1979 at Hebrew University, Hadassah Medical School. He was honored with the Certificate of Appreciation for outstanding contributions as a Mentor of Medical Students at Boston Univesity School of Medicine in 2001. He was a recipient of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Award in honor of outstanding effort and tremendous commitment to the Citizens of the Commonwealth through the Field of Medicine. Governor Paul Celluci in 2001. In 1998, he won the Lifeline Foundation Research Award.
